Ethan Gao is a Partner at Stenberg Law, PLLC, where he advises entrepreneurs, privately held businesses, investors, and family offices on a broad range of corporate, transactional, and strategic matters. Based in Houston, Ethan brings a unique combination of Big Law experience, in-house/general counsel sophisticated transaction execution, and firsthand insight into the needs of business owners and family office principals.
Prior to joining Stenberg Law, Ethan practiced with two of the world’s premier international law firms, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP, where he represented public and private companies, private equity sponsors, and investors in complex domestic and cross-border transactions. His experience spans mergers and acquisitions, private investments, corporate governance, strategic partnerships, and general business counseling.
In addition to his legal practice, Ethan has extensive involvement in the real estate and family office space, providing him with a practical understanding of wealth preservation, investment structures, and the challenges faced by successful business owners and multi-generational families. This perspective allows him to deliver business-minded legal advice that aligns legal strategy with broader financial and operational objectives.
Ethan earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and holds a degree from Cornell University. He is known for providing thoughtful, pragmatic counsel and helping clients navigate complex transactions with efficiency, precision, and a solutions-oriented approach.
